The yellow clock icon indicates that the transaction is still being processed and has not yet been completed.
This means the purchase has been authorized, but the merchant has not yet settled the final transaction.
How long does it take for a transaction to be completed?
The processing time depends on the merchant.
In most cases, transactions are completed within a few banking days.
The temporary authorization is normally released automatically within 15 days.
In some cases, such as:
Hotels
Car rentals
Fuel stations
Certain online purchases
the authorization may remain for up to 30 days before it is either replaced by the final transaction amount or released.
Please note that the authorized amount may be higher than the final amount charged.
Can I cancel a pending transaction?
No. A pending transaction cannot be cancelled through Nordea.
If you wish to cancel the purchase, you'll need to contact the merchant directly to check whether the transaction can be cancelled.
If you suspect fraud or if your card has been lost or stolen, block your card immediately and contact our support.
What happens to pending transactions?
A pending transaction does not mean that the purchase has been completed. The amount is temporarily authorized to ensure that sufficient credit is available when the transaction is finalized.
If the transaction is not completed, the authorization is automatically released after a few banking days, and the amount becomes Available to spend again.
Pending transactions cannot be exported to your accounting system until they have been completed.
Why is the pending transaction from a fuel station higher than the amount on my receipt?
When you pay directly at an unattended fuel pump, a temporary authorization is placed on your card before you begin refueling.
This is a standard process based on Visa and Mastercard rules and applies to card purchases at fuel stations.
In many cases, an amount of SEK 2,500 is authorized before refueling begins. If the full authorization amount cannot be reserved, a lower amount may be authorized instead.
If you pay inside the station, only the actual purchase amount is authorized.
The temporary authorization is automatically replaced with the final transaction amount once the transaction has been processed. This usually happens within a few banking days.
