Monthly spend limit vs. Available to spend

What is the difference between the Monthly spend limit and "Available to spend"?

It's common to wonder about the difference between a card's Monthly spend limit and the amount shown as Available to spend. Here's how they differ and how they work together.

Monthly spend limit

The Monthly spend limit applies to an individual card.

It defines the maximum amount that can be spent using that specific card during a calendar month.

Example

If a card has a Monthly spend limit of SEK 10,000, the cardholder can spend up to SEK 10,000 during that month, provided there is sufficient Available to spend.

A company administrator can adjust the Monthly spend limit if needed.

Available to spend

The amount shown as Available to spend represents how much of the company's available credit remains.

This amount:

  • Is shared across the company's cards

  • Decreases as purchases are made

  • Increases again when the outstanding balance is paid

Example

If Available to spend shows SEK 5,971.05, that is the total amount currently available to spend across the company's cards.

Key difference

The Monthly spend limit determines how much can be spent using an individual card during a calendar month.

Available to spend shows how much of the company's available credit remains.

These amounts are not necessarily the same. A card may have a higher Monthly spend limit than the amount shown as Available to spend, but purchases are always limited by whichever amount is reached first.
