Auto-categorization

Automatically categorize recurring purchases

With auto-categorization, you can create rules that automatically select the correct category for future purchases from the same merchant.

Together with Auto receipts, both the receipt and category can be handled automatically, reducing the manual work required for recurring expenses.

How to create an auto-categorization rule

When categorizing an expense, you can choose to automatically use the same category for future purchases from the same merchant.

To create a rule:

  1. Open the expense and select a category.

  2. You will be given the option to use the same category for future purchases from the same merchant.

  3. Enable the option to create the rule.

  4. Future purchases from the same merchant will then be categorized automatically.

Once both the receipt and category have been added, simply review the information and click Submit.

When is auto-categorization useful?

Auto-categorization is particularly useful for recurring expenses, such as subscriptions and regular purchases from the same merchant.

It reduces manual work and makes it quicker to complete and submit expenses.

Who can create auto-categorization rules?

Auto-categorization rules are personal to each cardholder.

  • Cardholders can create rules for their own expenses.

  • Administrators cannot create auto-categorization rules for other users.
